University College London

CEO of FM:Systems, Micheal Schley and Managing Director of NJW, Nigel Warrick visited UCL to set up and support the (IWMS) Integrated Workplace Management Solution classroom sessions within the university.

Professor Alexi Marmot at University College London, manages the professional Facility Management training sessions. Micheal Schley provided an introductory lecture which was extremely well received by the students at UCL.

FM:Systems worked with NJW to install FM:Interact on a server hosted by NJW and accessible by the students from wherever they might be.
Hands-on exercises were provided for the remaining part of the class. The students are mostly working professional facility managers.

NJW are the accredited UK partner for FM:Systems (IWMS) technology solutions. NJW professional services teams are available for further support and can assist in exposing the students to the basic functions of FM technology.

The emphasis is directed on the students being able to have hands on experience with FM technology tools in general and not a commercial pitch for FM:Systems or NJW.

NJW support the NSPCC

NSPCC require
Property Information

The detrimental effect of the credit crunch is not limited to corporate business but is also casting a shadow over the all important charitable organisations. The regular contributions from all market sectors are no longer attainable. As such, it is important for organisations such as the NSPCC to understand and improve their operational costs.

The new Financial Director, Ian Chivers requires immediate access to review the NSPCC property portfolio and operational costs consisting of 150 buildings spread across the United Kingdom.

NJW demonstrated the power of iFocalpoint to Keith Tabley, Project and Building Services Manager and his team resulting in the design and construction of a Conference Room Model.

A NSPCC User Group had a full demonstration of their 'Live' property and operational data through the Web based solution. A new look & feel branding was incorporated into the model complete with google maps and building key performance indicators. As such, the group could report on a multitude of property and condition analytics through the Web based dashboard.

NJW were commissioned on the strength of the 'Live' Conference Room Model which was incubated at the NJW data center. Being able to view and operate 'Live' data before purchasing any software is a unique selling point for NJW in a competitive market.

Suffolk Mental NHS Trust

Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust provides expert mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services to people across Suffolk.

The Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has an estate portfolio of 168 properties covering a large geographical area, from Brandon in the west to Beccles in the north of the county.

Twelve percent of the Trust’s income is spent on its infrastructure, further confirmation of the necessity to manage it effectively.

In addition, the Trust has a statutory responsibility for the management of its assets. Its estate strategy has drawn upon and is led by national and local service strategies and plans, in conjunction with national estates directives and statutory regulations.

David Leckie knew that in order to manage the estate strategy effectively, the Trust had to gain full visibility of all its property and assets. But any new management system would need to take full account of the existing Planet CAFM solution, as well as other business databases and management resources in use.

In researching the market for a service partner who could provide a professional property and asset audit, combined with expert advice on system integration, David Leckie identified njw. In addition to the necessary technical expertise, njw also offered first-hand experience of working within the complexities of an NHS environment.

A comprehensive audit was the first step in addressing the Trust's needs. This was undertaken utilising pre-configured handheld devices in order to minimise any disruption to 'business as usual' at each of the sites involved. With that task complete, priority was shifted to focus on the rapid deployment of a versatile ‘Top Hat Portal’ that encompasses all Trust systems and provides the facility to expand across other related systems.

The benefits
Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust now has a consolidated web-based, dynamic data warehouse delivering online access to the property portfolio, assets and documents, as well as providing support for modernisation projects.

Starting with a physical asset audit, the njw solution has matured to a fully operational departmental portal which has a look and feel fully in line with the Suffolk NHS corporate pages. David Leckie has named this solution estatedynamics

It provides immediate access to property details via Google maps, to assets through an asset register, to documents through a technical library; users also have access to construction and project plans in relation to the various modernisation projects. Leckie can manage third-party suppliers by restricting their access to project information yet they can work online with the latest plans, ideas and project management meeting minutes.

Competition for the privilege of delivering an (IWMS) Integrated Workplace Management Solution to Yahoo was intense. NJW however successfully won the commission through the power and ease the use of the Gartner rated FM:Systems solution from Raleigh in Carolina.

Grant Holder, European Space & Occupancy Manager at Yahoo is responsible for 300,000 sq/ft of property throughout Europe. His brief is to harness information into a single repository, Analise and disseminate the data for operational and strategic reporting.

It is essential to be able to manage the portfolio from Grant's lap top in terms of Space Management, charge back, moves and changes. It is also a requirement that the data is manageable at a global level for future expansion.

Hamish Good, NJW Associate Director of IT designed a global network infrastructure in partnership with FM systems experts whilst collaborating with Yahoo IT representatives.
