NJW Finalised for Innovation award

The NSPCC Top HAT Portal delivers Property and Facility Management data into a single, consolidated Business Information Portal.

Sponsored originally by Senior Services Manager, Keith Tabley. For remote access by building service engineers, the new Property Portal has evolved into Finance and Facilities information.

The 100% Web based tool provides dynamic information for 180 properties throughout the UK. The NSPCC made clear their main objective was managing and maintaining the ability to keep track of the finances through their assets to enable the a charity to successfully operate in tough economic conditions. This also meant that they need to be able to keep this process running with such a high staff turnover in order to report to superiors and gain a better and more detailed understanding of where they stand.

Having made it through to the final four, together NJW's innovative iFocalPoint product and the NSPCC await for the final curtain call on the 12th October at the Grosvenor Hotel to receive the verdict.

NJW 2009 VIP User Assembly

After months of hard work the NJW 2009 VIP User Assembly was finally launched on the 4th June. Many of you will have attended the event and I am sure you will agree, it was an unmissable day both for its educational value and its enjoyable environment.

When planning an event such as this, it is imperative to gain the knowledge and experience of Industry speakers. Therefore, the day played host to creating a new environment within which to speak out and answer to the trials and tribulations of the FM world.

The willingness of our speakers to share their time and expertise was very much appreciated and very well received by our guests, and we would like to take this opportunity to we thank them all for their support in making the VIP assembly such a success.

During the course of the day our wide range of presentations offered guests the opportunity to experience technology, workplace and conceptual demonstrations, showing of how NJW help our clients save time and money. However, instead of using this as a selling environment we focused on creating a learning situation that gave our clients a true overview of what is really on offer in the industry. This key theme was emphasized by the participation of leading US software company TRIRIGA who later went on to hold their European User Group conference. This enabled them to expand upon subjects covered during the VIP Assembly and demonstrate their new environmental product ‘TREES’. Additionally our new partners Cochrane Mcgregor, shared how they tackle issues in the workplace from a different angle.

As the event progressed, guests were offered the opportunity to have individual sessions with a multitude of solutions, ranging from FM:Systems, iTRACS, Archibus, AutoCAD and our Top Hat portal, iFocalpoint.

If there were any areas of the day you feel you missed out or would like to find out more, please feel free to contact Chris Marsh on 01488 686276 or

NJW & UCL further our dedicated Relationship

Managing Director of NJW, Nigel Warrick and Business Development Director of Cochrane McGregor, Cerys Jones, met with Dr Marcella Ucci from University College London (UCL) to discuss possible collaborations on research and teaching, within the MSc in Facility and Environment Management at the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies at UCL.

Established in 1992 as the first MSc course in Facility Management in England, the course is accredited by BIFM and RICS, attracting facility professionals with a variety of experience and backgrounds from all levels of management across different sectors – office, healthcare, retail, education and residential. The course has a strong emphasis on energy, environment and sustainability – one of the areas for future collaborations with NJW.

The majority of FEM graduates from UCL are engaged at a senior level in Facility Management operations, consultancy or design. Some students have used the MSc as a foundation for subsequent MPhil/PhD research. At UCL teaching has strong links with research, for example post-occupancy issues of design, construction, use performance and management of complex buildings directly inform the content and delivery of the course. The FEM academic staff members are actively involved in collaborative research projects in the field, working for example on: the refurbishment of occupied buildings; condition assessment and maintenance for buildings; sustainable and healthy buildings; facility risk and opportunity assessment and facility adaptation for change of use.

NJW Undergo Complete Office Refurbishment

For the past 15 Years, NJW has resided in the heart of the Berkshire Countryside, Hungerford. Over time our HQ has become the core of this ever innovative organisation making us believe it was time for a fresh lick of paint.

The refurb, being led by NJW`s Creative Director, Mike Vince, shows a milestone in the company's history. Demonstrating NJW`s unique ability to succeed even in difficult economic conditions.

The renovation has set a great example space utilization and within the workplace. Ranging from a courtyard workspace to team orientated desking with back supporting Herman Miller chairs at the helm.

This exciting new lease of life is just another of many the company has had over the past year and we doubt the last to come...
